Spoon Carving Escape
Book an afternoon escape and join us for a spoon carving course, gain knowledge and skills whilst relaxing around the camp fire with tea and biscuits as you learn to carve your very own wonderfully bespoke spoons.
We will cover everything to get you started carving wonderful spoons. You will learn how to use carving tools safely and effectively, how to rough out your spoon blanks with an axe, the use of advanced carving techniques with carving knives, as well as selecting and use of crook knives to carve your spoon bowl.
To start you will be taught about wood selection and the principles of how wood reacts when being carved. Once your spoons are carved we will then cover finishing and treating them ready for use, so you are able to walk away from the spoon carving course with a finished product.
You will be guided through the process and be taught to solve any problems which you might face whilst you are carving. We work on a class of 1 instructor to 6 students to ensure you will really be able to pick up all the skills being taught and get the most out of your time with us.
All the tools and materials are provided, including safety gloves.
